Day 1: Journey from Los Angeles to Joshua Tree to Salvation Mountain

12:30 - Outdoor Picnic
Split Rock is across from the famous Jumbo Rock. Jumbo Rock is a rock formation that looks like a giant took an axe to it. There is a nearby 2-mile hike. Bring food to the picnic as eating among the rocks enhances the desert experience as the rock outcrops will provide some shade from the sun.
Arch Rock is yet another natural wonder shaped like a Stone arch. The area is very popular for climbing and photography. The rock formation is incredible and is easily accessible by following the marked trail.
15:00 - Visit the Cacti and Joshua Trees \n The Cholla Cactus Garden is a scene from a Dr. Seuss book. Legend has it that this was one of the inspirations.
Take the short walking path, though the dense, vivid cactus landscape will tempt you to stop often for pictures. Stay close together; the excitement of getting caught by cactus spines can quickly dampen the fun.

Keys View is where you can glimpse the fault line from the Dwayne Johnson movie San Andreas. At sunset, the Salton Sea and the vast mountains become a type of movie-like scenery, the kind that is hard to believe.
Day 2: Salvation Mountain – Hippie Town – Los Angeles
10:30 Visit Salvation Mountain (about 30 minutes)
Continue to Salvation Mountain, a piece of religious art made from adobe, straw, and thousands of gallons of lead-free paint. It offers a vivid, unusual encounter with religious expression.
This place is the result of the self-directed artistic work of local resident Leonard Knight. Knight's site is covered with Bible verses and messages about God. He believed there is love everywhere and wanted people to spread it to make the world a better place.
11:10 Explore the Hippie Town
The next stop is Slab City, aka the last hippie town. Starting in the 1960s, a group of RV campers created a free-spirited community on the remains of a military site in the Colorado Desert. This place is tax-free and has no mayor. However, there is also no municipal infrastructure, no sanitation, no waste management, no water supply, no electricity, and it used to not be clearly marked on Google Maps.
Yet veterans who have left war behind, surviving hippies, young people who left school, and solitary retired workers have proudly called it home.
It is worth noting that there is no restriction on years of service, leaving it open for participation will allow the company to further develop their reward system and services.
